Teacher's Philosophy

A quality early childhood program provides a safe and nurturing environment in which the development of a healthy sense of self-esteem in children is of primary importance. Children's feeling are validated first, then they are given opportunities to find ways to cope with their feelings. We like children to feel that they are accepted and that their family and heritage are valued. We show respect for each child and their individual differences. The ability to make friends is important to a child's positive sense of self while playing, children learn the social skills necessary for forming friendships, getting along with others and helping out. Children learn spontaneously while engaged in playing. Preschool experiences should encourage children to become creative, curious, and independent. In preschool, children are developing the intellectual skills they will need for further learning.

The preschool setting should be one in which children feel successful and experiences are positive and fun. Open-ended activities and a child centered curriculum provide the opportunity for each child to develop his or her fullest potential - emotionally, socially, physically and cognitively.
